Social Media & Communications Specialist - Remote

Overview

We're hiring a Social Media & Communications Specialist to manage our online presence across multiple platforms. This is a fully remote position, and you'll work 40 hours a week as a traditional employee with a supportive team behind you.

We're looking for someone who can cut through the noise and provide clear, factual information to people who need it. You won't be a polished front person—you'll be genuine, knowledgeable, and able to explain how things work in a way that's positive, professional, and engaging. If learning on the job excites rather than scares you, this could be the right fit.

We're a collaborative team that gets things done while having a good time doing it. You'll research, learn, and become our expert communicator to the public, clients, and internal staff. If you've been deep in the social media world and want real problems that require thought and research, we'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

• Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and others) by responding to comments and forum discussions promptly and professionally

• Address positive, neutral, and negative comments in line with company goals and values

• Work with design and marketing teams to create and develop content strategy

• Research industry topics, develop messaging, and gather materials for internal and external presentations

• Create and oversee communications programmes that promote the organisation, its services, and activities

• Develop and maintain consistent brand messaging across all communication channels

• Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community members

• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities

Skills/background needed

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style for different audiences

• 1–3 years of experience in a communications, PR, or social media role (or equivalent)

• Strong organisational skills

• Knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms

• Experience with media relations, including writing and pitching

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with diverse communities, build relationships, and handle disagreements diplomatically

• Understanding of online forums, community dynamics, and engagement best practices

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
